welcome to the NB C Symposium 2025 and this is the very first panel session that we will talk about trans forming Telecom for sustainability and as you know that uh mobile operator in our system uh is the play measure law in uh be Behind The Innovation and news idea the law is is 105 y connecting cost and data and today and clean connectivity start here and for the first law I I would like to uh invite to share about nvd uh NT uh strategic uh sustain ability strategy oh please have a good day policy thank you uh good afternoon everyone uh first of all uh for those of you who might not be familiar with national Telecom or in uh we are uh stay at Enterprise that is a merger between taught and C at that 2 State Enterprise provid ing telecommun ication service for for quite a long time we have uh providing variance of Digital Services and telecommunication services we have this line we have mobile services we have Broadband services satellite connect ivity Services both domestic and international we also have uh telecommunications infrastructure services like telecommunication Towers uh subduct and fiber optic and we also provide digital service like cloud data center cyber security application services that is the what we do for green and sustain ability so has the same plan uh ask ing Thailand Thailand I think the Thailand has planned to achieve net carbon neutrality by the year 20150 and greenhouse gas emission by year 2065 so NT try to achieve the same goal as the as the country so to achieve the goal we have car ry out numerous projects uh to drive toward that goals the first 1 is the to use the the clean energy and we select for the first uh for the first project we use solar energy we have already installed uh 93 uh we have already installed solar pan els in 93 location s of our office Nationwide the combined capacity is around 1 .8 megawatt so to use the the solar energy not just to give us the green energy but also help us save the cost of electricity as well so that is the first 1 uh another initi ative is for is to do the network consolidation since we are the merger of State Enterprise doing the same business the telecommun ication business so we have some redundancy uh we have some Office Buildings uh Network equipment s and Facilities so as those facilities and equipment s can be consolidated so we need fewers equipment add we do this along with the how can I say re organization of the of of of our organization struct of the organization as well as to streamline the process so we can um safe cost and safe operation cost safe uh maintenance cost as well as save the uh utility cost so that is the part that uh that we do for the network consolidation and some services like fix life services that use cop per wire as media are getting less popular so we change the technology to be the IP based uh and bundle it with Broadband services so by doing that we can turn off some switching the traditional switch and as we will ask the cooling facility that support that switch so turning off uh those facilities we can save cost of the electricity as well so that is the for the network consolidation part and we also share some equipment with our even our partners we share I think uh you know that we share 5 G base station within un so this helped us uh save the electric ity course for both of us so there are some other initiatives that we do for the green transition for the lighting machine s our light I think we change more than 50,000 light to be the LED which can help save around 60 % of electricity bill for for the light part we also upgrade our cooling system because you know that for the Telecommunications service we use a lot of equipment s and these equipment s need to be to be operated in a certain temperature and and so we we spend a lot of energy to do the cooling part some of the system are quite old and the power is not efficient so we changed the the technology of some cooling facilities to be the newer 1 and can save my some some can save some cost of the electricity we also install Smart Meter with the iot technology uh to keep track and control some of the equipment s that use a lot of energy in real time and we develop our own Energy Management platform to keep track of the overall use of the electricity of ant and we uh Annette the last 1 is the cloud technology we adopt Cloud First Technology like like the policy of the country by using Cloud technology we can share Computing resource like server storage data center across many uh application services and Department uh sharing uh the infrastruct ures this mean that we need uh layers infrastructures uh to to provide a services and this Consolidated facilities uh red uced uh power efficient technology so it can reduce cost so uh there's estim ate by a center that by adopting Cloud technology you can reduce carbon footprint by maybe up to 80% so this what we do so for all the initiatives that we use to reduce the electricity cost we can achieve around 11% reduction of electricity cost from year 2023 2 year 2024 this 21st century reduction is around 200 million bath which is quite a lot so in order for us to drive to a degree economy it's not just to be green it can help us reduce the cost as well so uh yeah uh the initi atives to reduce the electricity cost uh at the initiatives as well we develop our own greenhouse gas tracking system which uh and we use them uh this system can keep track of scope by the scope 2 and scope 3 greenhouse gas not just the carbon dioxide but at the greenhouse as well so we use the system to keep track of the greenhouse gas emission of NT last 4S and we now apply ing for the uh is uh 14 or 6 4 part 1 uh to be certified which I think we can get certified by the end of the year so this ISO 14064 part 1 is the I saw for the uh quantifying of greenhouse gas uh emission and Report so for this year and next year we are planning we plan to expand this curve of system to cover the scope good in South gas emission and we we will expand the report to incl ude our office Nationwide uh and the last in itiative that we do is to do elect ronic waste uh collection so we put the that that bin the electronic waste bin to our office over the country and we run the campaign to uh to build awareness of responsible disposal of uh electronic waste to our employee and our customers and we contact uh we contact cert ified collector to collect these waste to do the disposal and recycle so that is roughly what we have done so far for entity uh achieve the goal be car bon neutrality by the year 2050 thanks yeah thank you very much uh for painting such a clear picture of uh anti policy land scape and uses on trans ition is a good uh start for our discussion and then I would like to move to was it okay um about as sustainability strategy dat a capacity especially like to me like 5G uh expansion of cloud and also uh industry specific solution is demand for uh Network to to increase More Energy Efficiency so please check about ASP Innovation policy and how as legalizing your equities to create a tangible social and economic benefit sorry uh good afternoon first of all I want to emphasize what we disc uss about sustainability and such as sustainables the sustainable is put it inside our vision state ment as I try to show you that in our regions that we talking about sustainable High Digital Society this is the first 1 they want to show the second 1 is we are working together with e cosystems and partners so there are 3 words in in our vision statement that have to be emphasized the second thing is even in our mission statement we talking about trust connect ivity because we want to be the uh dig ital infrastruct ure throughout Thailand so uh in the aspect of sustainability it's not justly uh in Thailand in worldwide everyone talking about sustainables espec ially in Tech communication uh Telecom industry is focus ing in this 1 and react to be like uh control the carbon emissions uh the report from GS M is since uh June this year is talking about that in Telecom industry a record from 2018 to 2023 the carbon emission is reduced about 8% even the data consumption is higher and the usage of digital infrastructure is higher that's mean everyone is trying to find a way to reduce the carbon emissions and more than that in our sector is very important we enable enablement FX that mean what errors we do in the communic ation especially in our uh segment we are the 1 who trying to provide the connectivity we are the 1 who provide infr astructure through the other industry that's been what it will be uh provide the service to the other industry it can reflect the reduction of the emission also so our activ ity is impact it's not just only in our sectors imp act the other sector as well so this is very important part that why we are working here and it's not just only reducing our parts but what ever the service that we are providing like uh telecommunications uh bought bad mobile can reduce the numbers of transportation and travel now everyone after coid until now even still using Zoom uh beings using try to reduce the number of trans try to reduce the number of Transportation that's the impact that's why that's the 1 that I try to emphasize uh in the moment effects and if even we are not uh reducing the uh cons umption in our part but the other sector is going to be reduced the second 1 is going to be we have to promote the digital inclusions uh to the others and the last 1 is going to be app on climate this is a area we are focusing and talking a lot in sustainable s if you're talking about the first ones we are focusing in providing the product s and service throughout the other sectors so uh we are providing both as uh the convention is going to be like uh Broadband mobile uh the other internet Parts including in uh entertainment through out our service at infr astructure and more than that uh we are focusing in the other sector especially in uh industrial sectors uh Healthcare sector that the se 2 part is going to be very big sector if you uh seeing of the GDP growth uh that which sector going to drive the GDP code these 2 sector is the big parts that connect ed to be drive and we are trying to provide the digital infrastructure throughout these 2 sectors and we hope that going to deliver and make our nation can be more stringent the second thing is we are talking about cyber security and cyber Wellness uh we do a lot because 1 that I mentioned that even in our mission statement we talking about trusted connectivity we are the 1 who do this is the stat istic from this year and we have block more than 1.5 million mobile numbers we book more 5 6 million message that's been recognized as spams and we are do like block the spam URL more than that we are working Pro effectively uh with uh uh loyal enforcement parts to do like uh even they are using their own equipment not through our network but to be uh equipment to about cast to our customer we are the 1 who working closely with the law enforcement team to go and cash them even uh carrying the equipment s in the motorcycles or in the car s for the digital in clusions we are working in 2 parts the first 1 uh Pat mentioned about social inclusions that this is the very important to be sustainable it's not justly providing service to some sector but for the inclusion part we are working closely with the uh rural area Village uh we building the infrastructure at that area as mention ed uh due to infr astructure go to the area change uh their life uh this is examp le was in in the screen that uh we are working with uh uh the village that higher than uh 500 m uh actually they are very uh remote earlier that is going to be tough for them to trans port from the village through the cities but now we are working with them to uh providing the electricity providing the communication the funniest thing is now they're changing the the uh that Behavior now the chief of the village to be turned to be the uh influ encers and turn to be the big doctor to sales the coffees coffee beans now we are working with them that since this this is the rainy season s and there reversing the challenge that they cannot transport a logistic the coffee to the cities and to deliver us to that customer we have to because it's going to be uh all the road is blocked so now we are develop ing the Drone for them uh to carry all the equipment s all all the uh Coffee Bean to to to the customer so this is the 1 that exact ly that we can change the life from they try infrastruct ure and it's going to be impact not just only uh the daily life but for health care in that Village or even in education part in that Village it's going to be totally changed even exact ly the same teacher exact ly the team s the same stuff but whenever uh dig ital infra structure re ach the village it's going to be totally change uh we provide the liabilities digital libraries and what man internet throughout the school in Nationwide more than that we are working closely uh with the social Parts uh we do measure type cyber Wellness index does he mean by we are make sure that uh the wellness uh cyber s that they are knowing of know beforehand that's what is the dangerous of the cyber security so we measures and Reporting in trends that what happened in in uh uh countries and this year we we also providing the reports already uh the Cyber awareness we are working together with uh all the partner as I mentioned that to work we cannot work with the loans we are working through out the partner partner to provide all of this 1 even most ly it's going to be in the education part to uh certify all the uh curriculum s and certify all the all the uh uh Bachelor that we are providing to the societies and till now we providing the online cost for the cyber security through uh the people in the nation is going to be more than uh 200k uh people 's enrolling in in our online class and we do like a p test and post test for the objects uh we providing regularly uh check uh that's uh we have like all the information about the harm of the cybers 7 climate this is the 1 that everyone talking about that uh the green energy is in the green parts we are providing the solar cells in our best station s it's more than 50 15K best stations that mean uh but then half our station is equipped with solar cells and we make sure that how much did we can reduce the carbon emissions uh be talking about equip ment modernization s is going to be end to end parts even we are starting from uh the equip ment evaluations that's all the equip ment have to be energy efficiencies because the new equip ment the new 1 is olation is going to be higher Energy Efficiency so modernization simplify or equipment is going to be as Dr khanh mentioned in nte is it going to be the same activity that it's going to be more uh more and more to do and moving to the cloud is another 1 the cloud detection is not just only removing everything to crowd making every single uh server uh Computing things in our premise to be in Cloud architect ure it's going to be sharing because of the crowd uh uh architect ure is going to be mean it's going to be chair more Network function s inside so it's going to be more share and as mentioned it can be reduced the Energy Efficiency aha uh consumptions last couple year we talking about the uh way to save the energy by um 1 what they call zero Bit Zero ones what does it mean by what is if you don't use the power is not consumed 0 Watts but till now this couple year we talking about morbid but less what because even keep using is that they are not stopped to be zero yet so cons ume more and more when you 're talking about even they consume more but we going to useless uh the way we we do on this 1 is not just only the 3 part that you mentioned but we are using AI to put it in in the equipment and put it in in our Networks to be energy serving and in G efficiency what does it mean by mean by ones the customer consumer uh want to use less data we uh provide less resource when ever you want more than more resource we're going to provide more it's going to be up on demand resour ce providing that mean it's going to be reduced the carbon emission also so this is most of the part but anyway the last 1 is going to be the same as NT you're working together with all the partner to be The Hub of us uh we are the 1 who uh providing the network but our customer is the 1 using a lot of elect ronic equipment we have to be responsible for uh man age all the way from our consum ers so we are working together with our partner and we are providing the help of us and to uh collect all the EVS and till now we can collect 1 part 2 million piece of the es uh from all the all other HS that we are providing to collect all the emails so all 3 parts that we are mentioned providing the data infrastructure the first 1 that and also this is our commitment to to nbtc commitment to the consumer commitment to the country that we are providing the strengthen dies el infrastructure to them and we are the 1 who providing uh in clusive to the rural part and also to and to manage the events thank you very much for detailing uh is comp elling approach and we can see how a s renovation policy contribute to the carbon neutrality and now I would like to turn to uh our next panelist Mr any um actually this year is turning point of true to move to ward to be come um the platform of opportunity that everyone can equally access and beauty of the future in rufa structure what are the key highlight of sustainability initiative and Innovation and how can AI to my network contrib ute to uh uh our digital economy thank you thank you thank you for for having me here I I'll start with uh a very very fundamental question uh when we look at sustainability we ask ourselves so what is sustainability actually so if you look at the the definition of sustain ability it comes from a Latin word called uh sustainer and and that means to uh to support it just means to support to support something to endure something over a longer period of time is is very simple in meaning but it has uh it has quite quite significant and that is the spirit we employ when we look at sustainability strategy uh for True Corporation ask ed the basic questions hey what is it that is most important for our stakeholders so we we categ orize all our stake holders across 6 groups um we have uh our customers the most important stakeholder we have our partners who we work with our employees uh who work with us uh the government 's uh and uh the shareholders as well as the society so do each of these shareholders uh we have a system atic approach to ask what is important for you to succeed in your sustainability ambitions how can we support you best and when we ask this diver se group of stakeholders we get as you can imagine very different answers a customer expectation to sustain ability is very different from a part ner uh expect ation on sustainability versus a government role and expectation on sustainability and our role as true Corporation is to make sure that we try to balance all of those points of views and develop priorities along the most important aspects that help address the most of it if not all of it so if we look at the very very high priority issues for for us based on this very very gran ular assessment of stakeholder preferences it boils down to the 3 letters that I think all of us know ESG the way we look at ESG is a little bit different from the from the traditional sense in our definition we we call things like living right living well and living together it is essentially ESG living right is the the governance parts of of ESG living well is societ al part of ESG and living together is the Environmental part of of ESG and we cluster all our strateg ic init iatives along those 3 priorities and we have a very detailed way of monitor ing that how we are approaching that what in itiatives we are we are deploying and we are actually very serious uh not just about putting those strategies but measuring ourselves against each of those and here we present a very uh uh a very um I would say fundamental kpis on on on the on the page that we see so if we look at the the environmental part which is uh I think very interest ing and probably the the most important topic for today's panel uh our ambition is very clear we would like to reduce our emissions all 3 of them scope 1 scope 2 and scope 3 to reach the zero ambition by 2050 in line with the country's Target and we are very serious about making sure that we play our part as as you can imagine scope 3 is something that is typically beyond the operator 's operations so that is much more complex in volves a lot of stakeholders but we are working very closely with our partners to make sure that their contributions are also reflected in the product s and services that we buy which then in turn make uh the entire equation uh much more positive our Target is to reduce emissions by 42% uh by 2030 we are on a good path we are on a good trajectory we are already 21% uh on on it's sort of halfway through because we meas ure our baseline from 2020 so it's kind of 5 years down the line and we if you have achieved half of it but I must tell you that is the toughest part that is the toughest part and you know parts of it alluded to we can't do it alone and I think that is that is the most important as pect that I'd I'd like to bring to the panel today uh on on the uh environmental as pect on the social aspect uh I think being part of CP Group which is a conglomerate in in Thailand and also with telenor backing us from from the Scandinavian region um it is very important for us that we contribute meaning fully towards the societal require ments and oblig ations that we have as part of that we reduce uh we develop our networks to reduce digital divide uh or 5G Network is now close to 95% of population coverage is almost meeting the target we had set for th for 2030 we also intend to develop communities along with us today more than 22 million student s and us ers use our true look PA platform it's a educ ational platform that supports the education of children and and users to develop uh skill s and knowledge beyond what is taught at schools so 22 million is a substantial number as as you can imagine uh we we are supporting that our object ive is to um make sure that we keep on en hancing that those efforts we support schools through the connected uh initiative uh more than a thousand schools are are supported in terms of ICT digital infrastruct ure and connectivity uh to make sure that they have uh what it needs to succeed in the in the current age so so we want to uh we want to grow we want to develop ourselves but we want to ensure that our societ also benefit from that uh progress on the living right part uh as operators we have a huge responsibility we handle petabytes of data uh that the customers Place their trust on we we manage that and it's our responsibility to manage that very very carefully and make sure that we can we can hold that trust um today more than 50 million customers used uh true cyber automatic ally protected using our cyber security plat forms and in itiatives we neut ralize more than 8 million cyber security threats on a daily basis uh so so I think that is that is quite a substantial contrib ution in terms of risk mitigation I I would like to touch upon the U the the environmental part as you can see on the sng Parts uh we are trend ing pretty well we are closer to the ambition that we have set but as I said the environmental part is the toughest 1 and that is the hardest not to crack but uh we have taken this with uh with the full spirit and I'd like to give you a glimpse on on what we are doing actually on that part so to be able to understand that um basically we need to understand what where do the emissions actually come from the emissions that we our networks uh have is basically mostly scope 2 scope 1 is rather limited because we've eliminated uh the use of fuel or or generators in in most most of our uh operations so that is that is fairly limited and and in reducing as we speak scope 2 is basically the energy that we buy from the utilities and consume for our operations at close to 50 ,000 locations around the country we have locations and Towers on Islands on mountains um very difficult Terrain uh where it is it is very hard sometimes to to reach but we make sure that uh the emissions out of those uh sites remain as minimal as possible so if you look at the the bottom chart we are on a good trajectory in terms of emission reduction so the 21% that I was showing you on the chart above is is reflecting that uh but but that is not sufficient we need to we need to go much more Beyond if you want to meet the 42% Target so what options do we have uh how can we imp rove and reach those targets we look at it very deeply and we we try to understand uh the equation of demand and supply how much are where are we consuming what are we consuming uh who are we consuming for who are resourcing the energy from we we put that we have a very granular way of of working that out and this is to just give you an example so this is a cell site in uh I think it's around 1 and a half hours away from here this cell site was uh a bit rather I would say Infamous 1 uh when it came to em issions because uh it is a a fully loaded site uh we have uh uh Broadband node here we have mobile uh equipment here we have heav y duty air conditioning cooling the equipment uh it it was not a very uh good example of energy efficiency if I can put it very honestly so what we did is we went in there and we we put in all innovative solutions that we are working on just on this side and just to see what impact that can generate so we changed the shelters used very Innovative uh quoting hi hi hi used very Innovative uh quoting high high high high impact material quoting to to paint that location uh we put in very strong insulation so that the temperature can be maintained um you reduce the temperature we change the air conditioning from you know it was pretty old to to a very new 1 inverter grade AC uh we put in smart controllers uh we did some architect ural modifications um and we run our home grown AI model now what that model does is effect ively when you're not using the cell site it turns off certain frequ encies certain equipment so basically has conversed was alluding to uh 0 bit uh zero usage right if I if I capture that right uh hard to get there because even if I turn off the lair or the frequency layer there is still a small amount of power that is consumed by buy the equipment is this like your television when you put your tele mode it's not fully off still consuming some energy it's still generating some emissions the question is is there a way to reduce that in emiss ions to almost zero so that is the challenge that uh that we took upon ourselves so the AI helps address that by uh and we're so this was nakken baton but in addition to that so this was not but in addition to that uh we are working all across our Network we are modernizing our Network phas ing out Legacy put ting in Investments uh to bring in new Spectrum new equipment which are more eco-friendly uh We've cons frequency not with the intent of reducing costs but with the intent of reducing emissions what we see is it's also bearing fruit sustain ability is is not just an investment exercise sustain ability can actually be a profitable business and then we see we see that in practice so combined uh if if we take in all the efforts I think we are on a good path to uh to fulfill our am bition towards 42% but that is not going to happen if just true keeps on working stand alone we need all of us and and by that I mean all the stakeholders in this business we need the vendors to work on innovations that help us to reduce That Base power from 30 40% to almost close to zero close to what convers was alluding to if not zero usage maybe a fraction but not what it is today we need the government and the regulations to open up the energy grid making sure that operators like nais and true have access to green power much more flexibly much easier as least bureaucracy as possible uh if you look at U other countries there are Concepts like energy Wheeling where uh operators can buy green power directly from power a green power producers through ppas Power purchase agreements uh that is slowly uh coming up in Thailand I'm I'm very optimistic to the to the pil ot that is currently running so we are we are very curious to see and more importantly um this is a a slightly contentious topic but I think if we really have to get to the Net Zero Target on a country basis as 3 operators we need to sit together and think about how can we work together in terms of sharing infrastructure um there are statistics from Europe almost a third of Mobile Traffic in Europe is generated by active sharing sites a third close to 30% if I reflect that statistic what we have here I think there is a lot of room to cover so I think it is it is us uh oper ators to come together and evaluate uh do we really need to deploy our individual spare capacity stand alone un used underused capacity that generates emissions probably not do we can we think about better recycling better waste management and I think uh I learned something from from NT today on on on on what you are doing so how can we join forces as as oper ators to to tackle Waste Management electronic waste management management in the country and and how can we uh improve and uh together work towards a sustainable future so my message today is uh very clear we are not in the business of just building Networks we are helping build a sustainable future and and be you'd like to do that together with all of you thank you yeah thank you very much for telling insight about uh through sustained I think you touch a little bit in our next top ic about the challenge uh uh an issue that we have so far so what is the challenge how you overcome those challenging maybe share a little bit about shukra I think the challenges are mult ifaceted so if I look at from an operational point of view you know all of us want to deploy solar but solar approach es its limits uh not every site can have solar um you have rest rictions you know landlords are not permitting solar you have restrictions on the uh on the load that the sides can carry there are investments that are needed um so it can go until the particular limits and you know you cannot scale it to to 100% of of the sites for example so so we need to work out together with you know with the with the operators how can we leverage each other's friends in terms of uh infrastruct ure sharing I think we need to have a a common framework or a common way of work in terms of how we actively make use of um active infrastruct ure passive infrastructure um how do we encourage infrastruct ure sharing in the country uh at a very professional level so you know it should not be uh limited to to a particular party or a person's uh discretion it should be a standard transparent way of work so how how can we work together to to to form something like that to be able to do that so I think you know a couple of points on those aspects I think there must be a lot of in sight shelling because you have done our guests job and you must learn a lot of failure and success PC at the same topic about uh what is the challenge and how you welcome them uh we 've been talking about a challenge that we are facing from the previous presentation presentation you in fact that we facing a lot of challenge GE and if we want to emphasize that what is the first 1 is going to be like because we really high consumption hi gh energy consumption sector even we talking about total uh Ed consumption in in global telecommun ication is just 1% energy consumption throughout them but most of the telecommunication that who consum ed more is mobile operators uh mobile operator is the 1 who consume most of the uh Ed consumption in telecommun ication because we deploy a lot of sight as we uh all of the radio units all the equipments Nationwide but anyway the new coming up is going to be AI data center is going to be talking about cons ume more power so it's going to be like uh we we today we talking of green s to reduce but the trends of the technology is consum e more and more uh a before that we talking about the data center that's consumed about to kilowatts the racks but now people talking about 20 kilowatts now 200 kilowatt but certain something they're talking about that they it's going to be to make 1 you can zoom uh total sub station already so it's going to be huge am ount of cons umption but anyway if go back and talking about the modernization outside we are uh still operating in 2 G 3G 4 G and 5G so I want know that's the newer technology is going to be higher power issue efficiency so that's mean by uh the to uh over come with this 1 we have to reconsider to shut down some of the old Generations of equip ment or technology so that mean 2 G and 3 D we have to reconsider we have to accelerate the part that we can shut down this kind of systems talking about 5 G that is going to be hi gh efficiency and uh it's going to be like efficiency dat a rate is going to be better than 2 gen 3G the other 1 is we're talking about the investment cost in green that mean even uh we try to invest in green deploy ing a lot of solar cells as us mentioned that can be we put it a lot but anyway it's going to be really costly and we still have some limitation in case of we can not Implement our self but we cannot purchase from the others that's me in in the transmission parts that we have to use uh pop like so that's the 1 that we can can be better on this part and probably we can working with nbtc to overcome that how we can solve this kind of problem even seeing that and and focusing that we can be more green and using more renewable energies we 're trying to use more renewable energies to renew able energy is uh everyone say that it's going to be uh lower cost for for you but it's not lower that thoughts it's it's require d some investment how to be returned on in vestment in in in this kind of green technologies so so so to overcome this past we have to work together so with with nbtc we have to work together am ong our industry to to work on this part and the last 1 that I pick up is going to be the 1 that I talking about inclusions working a lot in uh providing the data infrastruct ure to the rural area to the remote area to extend the network through that part but it's virtual it's going to be special High investment as I should say that it's going to be like a 2 call on that part the turbine is not it's very far it's not uh easy to get access but once we want to provide this kind of infr astructure is going to be huge Investments somet ime they call that it's not uh feasible yet to be like ESG to be uh like the 1 that we try to connect to the unconnect so we all come that part and talking about is going to be some kind of the uh CS Pockets that we have to invest but we have another so working together with NBC with some us er fun d with some project can be some part that we can expand more and doing more everybody realize dat a infrastructure can change the life we don't need to to give away them with uh some mobile some uh equipment but just provide them the digital infrastruct ure we can provide them the electricity we don't need to give them the tele vision we don't need to give them the uh refrigerator but we just provide them the electricity is going to be same that thing is we just provide them the internet everything they can uh do by themselves so uh we can work together with nvtc to overcome on this part and I uh this could be a lot of projects thank you very much and then I would like to move to cun uh what else uh because you confirm the state when company so maybe please share about um you advise uh your session uh how to promote I mean uh the ecosystem inference um I think I think both speakers already cover all the challenge and I think the way forward I totally agree that so the challenge I think the challenge of our business the the telecommunication Business and Technology business at the moment we consume a lot of energy we use a lot of energy to provide the services for the equipments and for the servers and we use a lot of energy from the grid at the moment they yeah majority is from the grid and the quid is yeah like you said that you'd like to know most ly is power ed by the fossil fuel this is not green so and we have to provide the service 24 by 7 you need to be reliable right the the services so for us to to move to renewable energy sometime renew able energy is not it's not available or it's not reliable so that is the challenge to to to have a reliable green energy that's 1 of the challenge that that we have to find a way to to tackle and uh and not just the the power that they be used 24 /7 we need the liable as well the liability the service level agreement that we need yeah 99.9 9 99.999 the reliability is come as a cost and you need when you want reliability is do mean that you need redundancy even redundancy in the equip ment redundancy in the power and this redundant system somet imes it's not green right when you have back up power most of us back up with what with the power generator do you sell power generator is there is not green so there is a challenge that that that we we need to to think about the other challenge is uh for for the technology you know the technology business change very fast the technology keeps changing when you change the the technology we usually change the equipment right you have your iPhone 15 16 17 some of you change phone every every year right the nickel equip ments the server s are are the same somet ime we change the technology very fast to respond to the competition and to the consumer consumer needs so when you change equipment you create it you create West and carbon footprint so somet ime we have to balance between the pace of the how we change uh uh the the equipment and and and this thing uh there is another challenge uh maybe a h the another 1 is uh but all of these challenge oh another challenge that the like the investment like uh uh like he's saying the in vestment to to be green need investment if you want to upgrade your equipment of facilities to be more power efficient it need investment if you want to upgrade your cooling facilities you need investment so these kind of things we have to take into account but of all these challenge there's a way forward as well the technology can help you to do a lot of things especially for the AI the the new technology that is more power efficient we can use AI to help us optimize the operation we can use more power efficient uh server storage we can use a more power efficient Cooling technology like liquid cooling immersive Cooling this is quite important because uh for the AI it use a lot of energy in the past we may have a data center of 5 megaw att 10 megawatt but now at the moment this year we have heard about dat a center of 50 megawatt 100 megawatt and because the server we use a lot of servers we use of a lot of computing facilities especially for AI and these Computing facilities use a lot of power and it also generate a lot of heat in order to do the cooling for this kind of servers if you don't do it properly if you use a lot of energy and create a lot of car bon footprint so you you need good technology to to to reduce the car bon footprint both for the equipment itself and for the cooling and uh this can be solved by technology the other Way Forward is to do more consolidation like like to speakers have to do the consolid ation to chair the use of the resource together all the lead source that can be shared maybe the base station the equipment the tower anything or use the cloud technology by using cartoon y okay for the slide by using the uh popular and Cloud technology and implemented properly we can reduce uh the the am ount of carbon footprint okay and let's say if you use a good technology you can maybe save 10 to 20% uh by using the the right cooling technology if you do see the right Hardware you may save 10 to 15% and if you consolidate the demand together to use to use the virt ualization technology are you consolidated on the same equipment you can save me to 35 to 40% and if you do a good software engineering you can save more you can do a good soft ware architect you can save more so there are a lot of way you that you can do in order to reduce the use of energy and carbon footprint so these are all technology which is done if done proper ly you it can help uh carbon emission another way forward is that direct PP A if we can buy directly the green energy that that will help a lot if we can uh yeah I think that's pretty much it if I may if I may quickly touch upon what you just said I think in in this entire ecos ystem there is 1 thing that play s a very very important role and that is I think it's not just for this ecos ystem but for anything in in life it's incentive there has to be an incentive now if you ask our stakeholders everybody has different incentives the shareholder wants return on investment the consumer wants cheaper prices the regulator wants hi gher coverage obligations the um Bank s want higher uh interest rates right and as businesses because we we have to operate and we have to generate a sens ible margin uh it has to be uh I would say a sense of pragmatism right and while there are things like carbon tax which are being debated and being introduced in my personal view I think that is probably it has a negative connot ation attacks attacks positive word what if we change the carbon tax to something like incentives you know if we started measuring emissions of each of us and providing uh points you know uh some positive points uh maybe that is something the nbtc could think about uh and maybe uh discuss with with the operators thank you very much for your suggest ion I think this panel highlight a 3 critical Factor first is about uh Energy Efficiency a second is a finance liability and a third is about uh social responsibility and a part to sustainable Telecom future demand medical shift uh print technology invest Green Technology investment energy reform and also digital inclusion must be uh stud y UniFi to when it calls and dry efficiency and this is like uh the the the how how to say uh demand ed for industry leadership so for our panelists uh if you have to give 1 last sentence about the key success factor uh please keep 1 last sentence maybe we start we could definitely and then I think I mentioned this um uh it's going to be a longer part for me so for for sustainable able in in in as we talking this year be emphasizing that's we are having the new technique comes we call AI right uh be promoting the word AI for sustainable Nations this is the 1 that we are putting in and we are trying to put AI in every single angles that's me and you're putting AI in our infrastructure we putting AI in digital Talent including AI in uh did a safety is and also in green but anyway the most important part is going to be the 1 on tops that mean as in the chief mention ed that we can not work alone it's going to be required cost Industrial ation together and ation togethers and to achieve that we want to be sustainable Nation I think I think the concept I think it's the same to to be sustainable is a chair Journey you can not do it alone so I think the comment like letters operators consumers we have to work together in order to achieve a better Greener future because to be sustainable is the quiet Collective investment and you have need balance policy you have to balance between now and the future the lines between the the course and benefit of it and you need uh share resp onsibilities everyone have to work together you cannot do it alone and there's a course in everything but you have to trade it between 1 things and 1 things and how you balance it and you balance now and the future you can not just focus on today what is sustainability mean I think yeah thank you very much and uh to that Innovation and digital ecosystem this time we need stakeholder corporations and what is important is a transform tell ing into opportunity at extend telling into opportunity at extent the genuine chance uh into a better more connected future but what is more important is beside the sustainability uh future where the technology act as a for ce of opportunity uh and uh me chanism to reduce inequal ity and a platform for our growth in our country uh for mbtc sustain ability is not just a moral obligation but in the future where our Network uh it's not just the backbone of our is that econom y but a catalyzed for uh train er and more sustainable world and this is uh responsibility to adop t clean technology at its core and thank you very much for today and please give a big hand to our pan elists thank you very much thank you very much to all panelists and also our moderator for engaging disc ussion in session to work here this was to read a world of knowledge and give us a comprehensive look at the directions for the telecommun ication operating and this is taking to a sustained sustain ability as a penalty henricas right now we're going to have a short break you can enjoy the fresh man outside the room and of course we will be back for the next session around 3 15 3 15 so please come back on time thank you very much s I special melee car so right now our next session is about to begin shortly so please welcome back to the conference Hall work here session I would like to kindly inform everyone outside to welcome and take a seat inside the conference room because our next program is about to begin shortly thank you very much so welcome back everyone I have an important up date regarding our next session un fortunately we have had for seeing change to the program the speaker of the topic of the US policy and leading examp le on securing critical infrastructure and digital resilience so Joffrey car and expert from the Bureau of the cyber space and digital policy who was scheduled to join us today from the United date who will be no longer to present here and this is due to the currency sit uation with the US government and this is about the US government cut down which has required him to reserve his engagement this time this is matter Beyond his control and ours and we sinc erely regret and for this appointment this may cause and of course as a result we will now proceed to the directory to our final session of of today the topic is about the crucial continu ation of our previous disc ussion pretty cool infrastruct ure and digital resilient securing what matters the panel disc ussion will delve deep ly into how we can enhance this cyber security and protect vital infrastructure in our digital world so please please know that this panel discussion booby conducted in Thai for this panel disc ussion we are ordering to have dist inguished pan elists and the moderator join ing us today let's welcome our 16 panelists first of all she is uh having over 20 years of of the experience in recreating and supervising the techn ology and the payment of the the Time Finance system setting the it regulator Frameworks to build a secure bank ing community so please welcome Miss Aurora una Nan senior director of Bank of Thailand we also have another extreme panelists with over 20 years of experience Mr pitch Express lies in the public policy and government relation in technology and also telecommunication part icularly in car Computing and digital Technologies so please welcome missed the Pitman rather to be on the stage head of public policy Amazon web services thail panelists Mr wroot has nearly 20 years of experiencing in leading technology driven change modernizing it system and ensuring regulation and Lion of course Very industry so please give a big round of applause to Mr to be on the stage head of this transformation and operating big green power and also leading our discussion today as we also have the moderator Mr executive director of the telecommunication policy and also management Bure au office of their nbtc will be on the state with us as well as the moderator and big round of applause once again to the esteem ed allow me when generator some long up and running for all ow me redundancy to hybrid can look at but in Kong connectivity connectivity PP take home operator then on what Done Yet PP got operate they can that it located um a larger group such as the EU they allow data to be put into server s in other jurisdictions such as this broadly is the a European econ omic area but we don't have something like that in this type of world so sorry about the long list of yes yes I I'm not sure uh who want to take this question maybe I I will take the question first maybe uh for for for Telecom for that come we have a similar regulation um uh saying that the data must I mean personal data must be safe and secure at the Telecom providers uh local in Thailand and and by the time I think the the regul ation is not I mean by the time the crowd services is not yet I mean using us ing uh uh very very widely uh but uh I do I do agree with with uh the we we do that um I mean put ting um the data local locally uh come with some benefit s but come with some drawback as well but then I mean the the the government agency need to be be clear what kind of sensit ive data that that should be installed in in in our territory and for example in in the case of I I cannot remember when um in the case of Sweden and they put a lot of data I mean uh and so the data Maybe maybe sensitive data like data from from the min istry of Defense how many tanks they have they have how many how many aircraft they got but put in the crowd service for that uh I cannot remember correctly that maybe there's some deadly or something like that or the minister just mention uh in in the Parliament that okay our data is very skilled in the cloud but uh the result of that uh he was kick ed out from the position because that data consider the sensitive data for for the country so we I think the government agency here need to be very careful when we consider the in the category of of sensitive dat a yes is is that just my observation thank you can I I have um I wonder if there's a representative from um DGA here if if anyone from dja is here okay so so can I can I help answer the question um so I'm from the office of nsdc um and um we we also um sit in the national board of the digital economy and Society um which I think the cloud first policy went through that void um and 1 of the guidelines include um the classification for like different sensit ivity of data so you have like open data you have shareable data do you have like 5 6 other you know like groups 1 of them is sensitive and I think people who are responsible for this is the distal um government agency these um um this year yeah yeah yeah um so not not only that they classify these kind of like data groups they also gift guidelines on which type of clowns to use so for example um if it's really sensitive then you cannot you know I'll put it in Cloud at all um and if it's open dat a you can use both like public cloud or um I think it was like chair cloud I'm not super familiar but just just to um speak um because I don't think anyone from DJs here I think so but thank you for for your for your thought thank you okay yes I technology back but my for a lot of time you for yeah I'm in my um Japan Apple um iguana National take uh adopt technology uh manage in quiring use case for and assistant aggressive unknown step in uh Ai and uh yeah karbon AI risk management some um my batch of income AI learning for Tim G I okay it will be like I Enterprise ban could awareness the how much can I uh person and go call ing thinking TDA say I and regulator the and for me amount of time you have panelists thank you so much once again to all 3 pan el and also our moderator and this topic is profoundly pardon in the current Aber as
